Secure Video Conferencing, Focusing on Security Shortcomings

Video Conferencing

Since the inception of the pandemic COVID-19, video conferencing has become a force to be reckoned with, a norm that have pave room for digital communication, a core technology component for the business world. This development has also led to privacy concerns with a thought in mind if these platforms have the ability to protect users and keep sensitive information secure.

This evolvement has raised a concern on privacy, having in mind cyber attack which has crippled individuals and business as well as leaked vital information.

Pending the eradication of the pandemic COVID-19, video conferencing platforms will continue to heat up over the next few years with Zoom gaining more grounds and the firm estimates to have over 300 million daily active users, other competitors like Microsoft Teams gaining on Zoom’s market share.

The problem is that most video conferencing systems were built solely to facilitate the online meeting without security in mind.

Businesses, Government organizations even school systems are fearful of hackers potentially listening in on conversations and can’t fully trust the security of their virtual meetings.

There is therefore, the need to be security conscious whilst setting up video conferencing and choosing the right platform.
