WHO Confirms a Small Ebola Outbreak in Congo

Ebola has killed at least one person in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the World Health Organisation confirmed Friday at least one person had tested positive for the deadly virus. WHO said it was sending the team to the remote area in the north of the country near the border with Central African Republic. And a large vaccine nonprofit said it was ready to bring in Ebola vaccines if needed.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said the erection of various statues and monuments across the State is not only to serve as tourists attraction centre but also to tell the history and contribution of the indigenous fishermen in providing food for the teeming population in Lagos. The Governor, who was represented at the commissioning by the Special Adviser on Food Security, Hon. Ganiu Okanlawon Sanni, also said the monument describes Dignity of Labor, Strength and Glamour of Indigenous Industry, which is bound to inspire the younger generation to work hard in order to enhance food security in the State. LAGOS SCHOOL OF NURSING COMMENCES SALE OF ENTRANCE FORM

Lagos State School of Nursing, Igando has commenced the sales of forms for admission of new students for a 3-year General Nursing Programme which commences in September, 2017.  In a statement released by the school authority, the sale of forms which commenced on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2017 will be on for four (4) weeks and is expected to close by 2:00pm on Friday, June 2nd, 2017. Candidates between 18 and 23 years old, with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry at not more than two (2) sittings will be eligible for this exercise.

LASIEC SEEKS SUPPORT OF SECURITY AGENCIES AHEAD OF JULY COUNCIL POLL

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission c hairman,   Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips, has appealed to security agencies in the State to collaborate with the Commission in ensuring violence-free elections before, during and after the  July 22, 2017   elections into the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the State. The Chairman made the appeal during a recent visit by LASIEC delegation to the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Fatai Owoseni and his team, promising that the Commission would engage in regular discussions with security agencies on how to ensure peace and security during the electoral process at the Local Government level of the State.
