Lagos – Airtel Nigeria says it is partnering with Chicken Republic to feed over 5,000 less-privileged Nigerians in five days this yuletide season.
The Managing Director of Airtel, Mr Segun Ogunsanya, said in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos that the gesture was part of Airtel’s annual corporate social responsibility initiative dubbed, `Airtel Five Days of Love’.
He said through the initiative, Airtel would be sharing for the season and celebrating with the underprivileged by providing quality, hot meals, amidst an electrifying atmosphere of fun, good entertainment and love.
The initiative kicked off on Monday, Dec. 11 at the BRT Bus Park, Obalende roundabout, Lagos, where Ogunsanya led Airtel staff to feed over 1000 people. “We are passionate about uplifting and empowering Nigerians and will continue to create and support platforms that make lives better for our consumers. “My colleagues across different regions of the country will also be embarking on this journey of giving, which is one of our key CSR interventions,’’ he said.
Ogunsanya said that the “Airtel Five Days of Love” train would hit Democracy Park Akure, Ondo State, on Dec. 12, targeting over 1,000 beneficiaries. He said that on Wednesday, Dec. 13, the 5 Days of Love train would provide free meals at LEA Junior Secondary School Durumi 2 Garki, Abuja. According to him, on Thursday, Dec. 14, the campaign will reach more beneficiaries at Government Girls Secondary School, Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna State. “The campaign will end on Friday, Dec. 15, at Edo State Museum and Cultural Centre Ring Road, Benin City,’’ Ogunsanya said. The Five Days of Love initiative is part of Airtel’s Employee Volunteer Scheme (EVS), a platform created to assist underprivileged people. (NAN)
