The Managing Director of the Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Mr. Idowu Oguntona has charged the newly trained Civil Service Staff Bus Drivers to adhere to all traffic rules
Oguntona gave the advice at the closing ceremony of the training programme for the Civil Service Bus Drivers at the LBSL Depot at Ilupeju, stressing that they are ambassadors of the State Government through which the commercial and private bus drivers will measure the present administration in terms of compliance with traffic laws.
Represented at the event by Mr. Oluwatimilehin Olajide, Operations Manager, LBSL, Oguntona warned the drivers that the BRT corridor is exclusive for only BRT buses and not the Staff buses, reiterating that stiff penalties await any erring drivers that are caught in the corridor.
He promised that the company will continue to monitor the activities of all the trained drivers as they are now part of the integral system of the organisation having been trained and certified by the Lagos State Drivers Institute in collaboration with LBSL.
The Head of the Civil Service Bus drivers, Mr. Olusesi Abiodun expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the formal training of drivers, noting that the exercise was the first-of-its-kind training based on their profession.
He also thanked the government for providing the fleet of staff buses, saying previous administrations had never given such a large number of vehicles in a single tranche to convey workers.
Abiodun also commended the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola for the training opportunity and expressed his gratitude to the management of LBSL, especially the training department for their time, patience and endurance during the training.
Recall that the Lagos State Government in June added 35 new buses to the fleet of staff buses in order to make life more comfortable for its workforce, necessitating the retraining of 40 drivers in the art of modern driving of the newly acquired buses.
