LASG REITERATES COMMITMENT TO CLEAN, SAFE CBDs

The Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Central Business Districts, Mr. Anofi Elegushi has reiterated the State Government’s commitment to a clean, safe and business-friendly Lagos Central Business Districts.

Speaking while supervising the evacuation of refuse from streets and walkways on the Lagos Island Business District, Elegushi restated the commitment of the current administration to transform the state and improve the socio-economic well being of the people.
He disclosed that the government is keen on developing the Lagos Central Business Districts beyond its current level in view of its economic importance, saying:  “the CBD is the economic hub of not only the State but also the nation. Billions of naira exchange hands daily in these locations and the influx of people from other States, Countries and Continents underscores the importance and strategic relevance of the CBD”.
The Special Adviser acknowledged the high influx of people to Lagos CBD and pressure that this is exerting on the infrastructure.
 “Currently, the Lagos Island Central Business District is undergoing pressures for development due to a large number of people coming into the district which overstretch available facilities, ” he said.
He, therefore, urged stakeholders to build up a sustainable partnership with government by ensuring effective management of available facilities, so as to ensure a clean, safe and vibrant environment.
The Special Adviser specifically urged them to cooperate with the government in ensuring proper disposal of refuse and waste to make the environment cleaner and safer.
