ALIMOSHO HOSPITAL CMD URGES LAGOSIANS TO EMBRACE LAGOS HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME

The Chief Medical Director of Alimosho General Hospital, Dr. Madewa Adebajo has called on members of the public to embrace the proposed Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme being introduced by the State government for provision of excellent health service delivery to the entire residents of the State.

He noted that the initiative will not only assist in reducing the rate of avoidable deaths arising from negligence but will also help residents pay adequate attention to their health challenges and ensure effective health management.

Dr. Adebajo made the call over the weekend at an event held in honour of the hospital’s retirees at the premises of Alimosho General Hospital, Alimosho.

The CMD stated further that the State’s health insurance has been designed to suit all social classes of the society and all levels of income earners.

He urged Lagosians to key into the vision of this administration for the health sector, stressing that the health insurance scheme is cheaper compared to the cost of accessing good healthcare services or with what is currently obtainable in all healthcare establishments across the country.

In his words, “The Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme is another means which the present administration in the State is using to encourage the culture of prudence and a way of telling Lagosians to stop spending a large chunk of their earnings in paying medical bills. The initiative is affordable to everyone regardless of the level of income”.

“In the scheme, you can choose the health service of your choice. In a nutshell, the whole idea is about saving for the rainy day. Should anything happen, you won’t have to withdraw any money from your bank account to offset your medical bills at that point in time” Adebajo added.

While commending the retirees for their commitment, hard work and diligence to duty while in service, Dr. Adebajo urged them to remain relevant in the health sector by offering advice to government on how to further improve health services as well as mentoring of young and upcoming health practitioners.

The representative of the Post Service Department in the Public Service Office, Mrs. Gbemi Lagushe expressed the State government’s appreciation to the retires for their service to humanity and the development of the State, noting that their retirement from service should not debar them from adding value to life.
