SOUTH AFRICA U20 WOMEN BOW TO GHANA AHEAD OF NIGERIA CLASH
Ahead of their clash with the Falconets, Maude Khumalo's ladies were silenced by the west African side in a friendly in Cape Coast on Friday
South Africa U20 women team were thrashed 4-0 by Ghana in an international friendly at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Both nations met in the test match as part of their tune-up ahead of the final round of the U20 Women's World Cup qualifier as the hosts cruised to victory on Friday.
The Black Princesses secured the lead through Grace Asentewaa in the opening 15 minutes before Priscilla Adubea extended their lead over Basestana to 2-0 before halftime.
In the second half, the visitors' comeback hopes were dashed as Adubea grabbed her second and hosts' third on an hour mark and Asentewaa fired home in the closing stage to wrap up the rout.
Meanwhile, Ghana will confront Cameroon in the final stage with the latter playing home in the first leg on January 13 before travelling to Cape Coast for the reverse fixture two weeks later.
For South Africa, they will return to Johannesburg on Sunday to continue their preparation as they welcome the Falconets in the first leg before visiting Benin City for the second leg.
The eventual winners of the final round encounter will represent Africa at the 2018 Fifa U20 Women's World Cup in France scheduled to be held between August 5-24.
