Technology: WhatsApp will soon let you watch YouTube videos within the app

By Tech DeskPublished

We all know how irritating it is when you receive a YouTube link in WhatsApp and upon clicking it the app opens the YouTube app to play the video.

However, this toggling between apps is about to change with the latest WhatsApp feature. WhatsApp’s latest update includes a hidden feature that lets you view YouTube videos directly in the app.

Though YouTube video play feature is included in the latest WhatsApp update released on AppStore, it is still hidden and will be officially activated once it’s ready.
The new feature implemented in WhatsApp uses the picture in picture concept to let users view YouTube videos inside your WhatsApp chats.

YouTube now shows 3-second preview for every video

You can pinch on the Picture in Picture mode in order to expand it, or you can open the video in a new WhatsApp section to view it in full-screen mode.
