The New Face of The New Abule Egba

The Lagos state government is so magnanimous so much so that she birth a new Flyover in Abeokuta express way at Abule Egba junction to decongest the highly congested traffic experienced daily in that area.

The flyover is a structure which joints two or more points which are separated by an accessible route(s) to cut the traffic for faster mode of travelling. it is made over Abeokuta road/Abule Egba junction that intercept Agege  roads.

For the duration of the main construction process, the route were closed down and another route were found for commuters to help keep them safe from construction hazards, and at the same time help to speed up the project since the commuters would no longer be an obstacle.

The Flyover Construction Project is being carried out to ease traffic congestion in the city. It has a eighteen month maximum time frame as projected due to an upcoming event, lagos state anniversary that will hold in the different area of the state, information has it that come 17th of May 2017, the road/flyover contraction will be officially commissioned by Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. I just hope that his commissioning will not mark the end of the continuity of the ongoing constructions that might likely leave area unfitting.

This Junctions create a conflict between different streams of traffic and require special treatment. It is believed that the flyover invention will lessen the traffic jam. Commuters/Road users will be able to go distant places without any trouble. With the ease of any problem related to traffic and rush, people will be aware of the raising standard of life as  the flyovers will help to streamline the traffic control system by helping to reduce traffic congestion.
I am sure there are a good number of people that wish ABULE EGBA to be renamed to NEW ABULE EGBA

The impact of this flyover construction to curb traffic congestion problem has been assessed in terms of traffic decongestion, time saving and fuel saving. research have It that about 35% of the total traffic will be  diverted to the flyover, which will results in a reduction of about 32% in the total emission generation.
The loss of fuel for combustion and the associated cost resulting from waiting for the signal (Traffic Light) to change are also estimated, and these are found to be significant. When it rains, it’s not just the roads that are water logged, all other streets also get full with water so it’s easy to travel by flyover to get ease of rain water.

Although the control of intersection will be improved by the installation of a flyover bridge, it might still have many limits and may not fully solve the traffic problems that exist in similar situation of the Abeokuta express way/Abule Egba/Agege intersection such as vehicle delay, traffic congestion and road accidents.

The bridge is just increasing the convenience for the road users in two directions on one of the two main roads while under the bridge, the same traffic control plans as the “before the flyover” will  still be in use.

Additionally, it is a concern on how effective the compliance of the usage of the newly built road will be because it is observed every evening at sun down, traders converge at different points on the road to sell their food items/products and rendering services.

We implore the Lagos State Ministry of environment/Agency in charge to act accordingly.
