Snapchat is bringing groups to stories.
The Story feature,
which lets you take a collection of photos and videos, jazz them up with
text and graphics, and send them out to specific friends for a 24-hour
period, added a dose of cooperation on Tuesday.
A new feature, custom
Stories, will allow collaboration with friends and family for group
stories, which Snapchat parent Snap says is "perfect for a trip, a
birthday party, or those new baby Snaps for family members across the
country."
The company says it's received many requests to have friends work together on Stories.
The
story feature from Snapchat has been copied blatantly by Facebook, for
the social network and its Instagram and Messenger apps.
Snapchat's new Group Story featur |
In April,
Instagram announced that it now had 200 million daily active users for
its Story feature, making it now bigger than the originator. Snap said
recently it has nearly 166 million daily users.
As with private
Snapchat stories, the group ones will also disappear within 24 hours. A
new wrinkle is that the stories can be geo-fenced--users can select an
exact location for the Stories to appear within the Snapchat app, but
only up to 1 block radius.
