The Ooni of Ife,  Kwara State Gov, Alh. A. Ahmed,  have warned against the disintegration of Nigeria, saying Nigerians would be better remaining united than being disintegrated. After a special convocation for his first visit to Crown-Hill University at Eiyenkorin, near Ilorin, Kwara State, that the unity of the country was not negotiable. A coalition of Northern groups had issued a three month ultimatum to people of Igbo extraction residing in the 19 northern states to quit or be forced out after the expiration of the October 1, 2017, deadline.

Uganda’s Ministry of Health has confirmed that there is no case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country after getting negative results from tests on a suspect. “As a result of our strong vigilance at entry points in the country, one suspect case was identified on 30 th May 2017 in Gulu district, ” the ministry of health said in a press release today. The statement said “the suspect was held at the hospital isolation facility and samples taken from her. Results from the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) however, indicated that the case tested negative for all Ebola viruses and other hemorrhagic fevers such as, Marburg, Congo Crimean Hemorrhagic Fever and Rift Valley Fever.”    Health minister Jane Ruth Aceng

Nigeria’s Federal Government has reportedly released a breakdown of the first part of the Paris Club refunds paid to states to date. A statement by Salisu Danbatta, Director of Information in the Ministry of Finance said payments, totalling N516.38 billion, were made to the 36 states and the FCT upon the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari on November 21 2016, Premium Times reports. The payments were in partial settlement of longstanding claims by State Governments relating to over-deductions from their Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocation for external debt service arising between 1995 and 2002. The debt service deductions are in respect of the Paris Club, London Club and Multilateral debts of the FG and States. While Nigeria reached a final agreement for debt relief with the Paris Club in October 2005, some States had already been overcharged.

The 86 cancer patients were a disparate group, with tumors of the pancreas, prostate, uterus or bone. One woman had a cancer so rare there were no tested treatments. The results, published on Thursday in the journal Science, are so striking that the Food and Drug Administration already has approved the drug, pembrolizumab, brand name Keytruda, for patients whose cancers arise from the same genetic abnormality.
